A birth chart, also called a natal chart, is a snapshot of the sky at the moment you were born. It shows where the planets were by zodiac sign and house. At first it looks like a wheel full of symbols, but you only need a few starting points to read it.

Start with the big three

The easiest entry point is your sun, moon, and ashendenti. Your sun sign shows core identity and life force. Your moon sign describes emotional needs and instinctive reactions. Your ashendenti, or ascendant, shows how you meet the world and how others may first experience you.

If you only know your sun sign, the birth chart will feel much richer once you add the moon and ashendenti.

Read planets as the what

Planets describe the kind of energy involved. Venus relates to love, taste, and attraction. Mars relates to drive, conflict, and desire. Mercury handles thinking and communication. Jupiter expands. Saturn tests, limits, and matures.

When you see a planet in your chart, ask what part of life it represents.

Read signs as the how

Signs describe style. Mercury in Virgjëresha communicates by noticing details. Mercury in Shigjetari speaks broadly and directly. Venus in Demi wants steadiness and touch. Venus in Binjakët wants conversation and variety.

The planet tells you what. The sign tells you how that energy behaves.

Read houses as the where

Houses show life areas. The 1st house is self and appearance. The 2nd house is money and values. The 7th house is partnership. The 10th house is career and public life.

If your moon is in the 10th house, emotional security may be tied to achievement or reputation. If Venus is in the 4th house, love may need privacy, home, and family roots.

Use a chart tool first

You do not need to calculate everything by hand. Use a birth chart calculator, then read one placement at a time. Start with the birth chart tool, write down your big three, and look for repeated elements or signs.

Birth charts reward patience. Read them like a map, not a verdict.
