What Are Runes?

Runes are the letters of the ancient alphabets used by Germanic and Norse peoples from around the 2nd century CE. The Elder Futhark, the oldest known runic alphabet, consists of 24 symbols each carrying deep symbolic and magical meaning.

Beyond writing, runes were used for divination, magic, and invoking the power of the gods. According to Norse mythology, the god Odin hung from the World Tree Yggdrasil for nine days and nights to gain the wisdom of the runes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I do a rune reading?

Focus on your question, clear your mind, and draw a rune. A single-rune draw provides a focused answer. Three-rune spreads show past-present-future. Trust the rune that comes to you.

What does a reversed rune mean?

When a rune appears upside down (reversed), it often indicates blocked energy, delays, or the shadow side of the rune's meaning. Not all runes can be reversed. Symmetrical runes read the same both ways.

Do I need physical rune stones?

While many practitioners prefer physical stones, digital rune draws can be just as meaningful. What matters most is your intention and openness to the message.
